Quick answers

Which devices does Wispscan work on?

Any iPhone or iPad with a LiDAR scanner running iOS 26 or later: iPhone 12 Pro and later Pro and Pro Max models, and iPad Pro (2020) and later. On devices without LiDAR the app opens to a screen explaining why the scanner can't run.

Why does it ask for the camera, microphone, and location?

The camera and LiDAR map the room and outline figures. The microphone and on-device speech recognition are used only in EVP Listen. Location is optional: one fix per session names the place and fetches the weather from Apple's WeatherKit for the report, and the coordinate isn't stored. Turn it off with the “Place & weather in reports” switch on the home screen. Photos access is add-only and used only when you tap Save.

Does it work with the lights off?

Yes. When the camera can't see, Wispscan switches to Night Mode and reads the LiDAR directly. The depth field and figure pass keep going in total darkness; the mesh and motion tracking rest until the lights come back.

Where are my sessions, stills, and clips?

In the app's private storage on your device — open Past Investigations from the home screen. Stills and clips you save land in your Photos library. Deleting a session deletes its files; deleting the app deletes everything.

The report says it used a template instead of Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence writes the report where it's available and enabled on your device. When it isn't, or when it takes too long, Wispscan falls back to a template report built from the same session log. Nothing is lost.

Did it really find a ghost?

No. Wispscan reads real sensor data and reports it honestly, and none of that data can detect the paranormal. LiDAR-only figures most often come from furniture, coats, or reflective surfaces the pose model mistakes for a body. Treat every reading as something to explain.
