Wispscan Privacy Policy

Effective: September 7, 2026 · Nerd Driven

Wispscan does not collect or sell personal data, and sends nothing to Nerd Driven. The one thing that leaves your device is described under Location and weather below.

What the app uses, and where it stays

  • Camera and LiDAR. Used to map the room and detect figures while you scan. Frames and depth data are processed on your device and are not stored except in stills and clips you choose to capture.
  • Microphone and speech recognition. Used only while EVP Listen is the active mode, to draw the room's sound, classify sounds, and recognize words. Analysis runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. Audio recorded during EVP Listen is saved to the app's private storage on your device.
  • Photos. Only when you tap Save, and only to add a still, clip, or card to your library. The app never reads your photo library.
  • Screen recording. Only when you tap the record button, to make a clip of the scanner screen.
  • Apple Intelligence. The end-of-session report is written by Apple's on-device model from the app's own session log. Nothing is sent to Nerd Driven or any third party.
  • Location and weather. If the "Place & weather in reports" switch on the home screen is on and you allow location access, Wispscan takes one location fix when a session begins. That coordinate is used on your device to name the place (through Apple Maps) and is sent to Apple's WeatherKit service to fetch the current weather, barometric pressure trend, and moon phase. It goes to Apple and nowhere else; Nerd Driven never receives it, and Apple's use is covered by Apple's privacy policy. Wispscan does not store the coordinate. It keeps only the place name (for example "Winchester, CA") and the weather readings with that session's report. Turn the switch off or decline the permission and reports simply omit the line.

Storage

Sessions, reports, stills, clips, EVP recordings, and the place name and weather for each session are stored in the app's private container on your device. Deleting a session in the app deletes its files. Deleting the app deletes everything.

Sharing

When you use Share, the system share sheet hands the item to the app or person you choose. Shared reports and cards include the place name and weather if they were recorded. Other than the weather lookup above, that is the only way anything leaves your device.

No accounts, no analytics, no third parties

Wispscan has no sign-in and includes no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting software. Its only network request is the optional weather lookup to Apple's WeatherKit.

Children

Wispscan is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
